What does your home say about you?

And more importantly—does it support the way you actually live?

Is your space a true comfort zone, or is it a vision borrowed from a magazine spread or home renovation show—something beautiful, but not really you?

These are the kinds of questions we explore before the design process even begins.

Some answers reveal themselves the moment we walk into a home. Others come from understanding the people who live there.

This is what we call gut-level design.

It begins with real-life questions:

  • Who lives here?
  • What do they do each day?
  • What are their ages?
  • If it’s a couple—who is she? Who is he? Who are they together?
  • Do they entertain? Pursue hobbies? Read, watch movies, or race out the door each morning?
  • Do they return home seeking to relax, reset, or reconnect?

If children live in the home:

  • What are their ages?
  • Are they curious young learners, active teens, or recent grads returning home?
  • Are they daughters, sons, or nonbinary?
  • Do they need a space that’s focused, fun, or flexible?

Why does this matter?

Because your home should be more than a place to store things. It should support your rituals and reflect your rhythm.

At Heceli, one of the most rewarding parts of our work is discovering what comfort, function, and beauty truly mean to you—and shaping your space accordingly. Whether it’s a full kitchen remodel or personal bath design, we help you create a space that tells your story. Not someone else’s idea of a “perfect” home.

Kitchen Design

For cooking and gathering

Balanced with sleek surfaces and functional layouts. A kitchen project can feel overwhelming. We’ll organize your kitchen design project into manageable steps. We often start with a detailed questionnaire that we answer

Start by considering five key functional zones:

  • Cabinet Storage – Cookware, dishes, and small appliances
  • Pantry – Food storage and refrigeration needs
  • Sink Area – Placement of dishwasher, sink, and surrounding counter space
  • Prep Area – Clear and intuitive surfaces for everyday use
  • Cooking Area – Range, oven, and ventilation

We take all of this into account—your style, your needs, and your daily life—when crafting bathroom spaces that feel grounded, beautiful, and uniquely yours.

Personal Bath Design

What do you want from your baths?

A space to get ready for the day—or retreat from it?
A room for luxury, or for practicality?

Maybe you’re a traditionalist, wanting a bath design that honors the classic character of your John Gaw Meem home on Santa Fe’s east side. Or maybe you lean contemporary—moody, dramatic, even a little sexy. Perhaps your dream bath is a bright, spa-inspired sanctuary that feels clean, calm, and indulgent.

There are endless material and style combinations to choose from. The key is selecting elements that endure—and that feel in sync with the rest of your home.

Start by considering the baths you have:

  • Large, spa-like master bath
  • More modest master bath
  • Smaller guest bath
  • Guest bath that doubles as a powder room
  • Powder room with light family use
  • Family bathroom (perhaps the only bath in the home)

We take all of this into account—your style, your needs, and your daily life—when crafting bathroom spaces that feel grounded, beautiful, and uniquely yours.
